Latest goings on

So yea I am finally realizing that I am way too busy to blog! I guess it will start being like a quarterly update :) To start off I absolutely love homeschooling my boys. We (yes me too) have learned so much. The world is our classroom and we do take advantage of that! We love to be outdoors as much as the weather permits. So far we have studied birds, dinosaurs, and are now starting to look at bats and insects and oh yea snakes. Lapbooking is our favorite way to learn about these things. The boys are really reading well and loving math too. We are about to start looking at Hebrew again and adding in more history. I am just trying to take it one week at a time.
That is really all for now.

I totally forgot I started this blog...update!

So I have been seeing all of these really amazing blogs and thinking about starting one and much to my surprise I found I already have one! Wow that is awesome! Now if I can just figure out how to put on all my cool homeschool pictures so I won't bug all my facebook friends with my many posts about lapbooking. I will get there! But for now here it is...my NEW old blog!

Today is the Sabbath and I am glad for the rest of Yah! The past week was very busy and very fun! We did our first co-op with best friend Elizabeth where we started Hebrew, History and how to blow the Shofar. Next week we will make banners and placemats and preperations for the upcoming Feast of Yom Teruah (Trumpets) with her and her little guy!

I also got my Science curriculum order completed and am now waiting for my Zoology 1 to arrive in the mail! I already have the notebook journal for Nate and the lapbook cd-just waiting on the text. So...next week we will begin working on the awesomely FREE "Dolphin Tale" curriculum written by the same author as Apologia stuff. And the most exciting thing of all...going to SEAWORLD on Thursday for homeschool day!!!! Yay the best field trip ever!! Then going to see Dolphin Tale Friday for homeschool day of that! So excited!!
Oh yea and our first field trip of the year we went to a Crocodile refuge/farm. It was super fun and well kinda scary! I will post pictures as soon as I figure out how :)

We started our Five in a Row which I will refer to as FIAR from now on. For those who don't know what that is I will tell you. It is a curriculum where you read the same book to the kids 5 days in a row and then do all kinds of activities based on the book. There is a book list included and you just go to the library to get them. We did MADELINE first and just got that finished this past week. It was super fun and the kids learned alot! Like...where France is, what the flag looks like, what food they eat, what language they speak, what an appendix is, what solemn means etc...
We also are going strong in Math with mathusee and loving all of the hands on manipulative stuff they use. Hands on works well with my boys :)
We are coming right along with learning to read-we are using a blend of phonics programs and I can't believe how much they already read!!! Wow!
History is also in the mail and we will start the Story of the World 1 not this coming week but the next and I am really pumped about that as well.
Most importantly we are working on a Bible lapbook and reading the Narrated bible(in chronological order) and making a page for each story we read. I will need a big binder for that. We are still on the days of creation and loving it! It is amazing to me how much more they are retaining by lapbooking it!
On a different note...David's work has been really slow and it is nice to have him home but we do have bills to pay so THANKS be to Yah that he started on building a house this past week and just at the right time! Yahweh always comes through! I just hope it continues to cool off outdoors because framing in the heat is not fun and can be dangerous!
The girls are doing well in school. I went to open house to meet Becca's teachers and they all LOVE her! She is sitting in front and answering questions and making amazing grades! yay! for those who know her you know this is a big deal! Amanda is still doing great and loving cheer. No game this week though. We are looking forward to the upcoming homecoming game and of course the dance!
Last but not least...we have decided after much prayer to attend Sukkot in Rusk with a really great group of believers . We will miss our friends here but we have never done the camping Sukkot thing and just really want to experience that. And we are very excited about it!!!!
My blogs won't be this long in the future...I promise!
The End!

the name...boring life full of adventure

This is my first time to blog. I am inspired by my 2 sisters Sharon and Madeline. Sharon is going on a European adventure, and Madeline is in the middle of Mardi Gras in Louisiana.
I am a stay at home mom with three teens that I homeschool, and with my two little boys ages 2 and 1. So as you can see I have a seemingly boring life but really it is filled with small daily adventures!!!
Today... I took the 2 babies to the local park in the Woodlands because it is such a wonderfully beautiful day. The weather here in Houston is PERFECT!!!! Breezy and sunny, yet not hot. I am guessing the temp was around 68 or 72 or something like that. Well I was taking the girls (ages 12 and 13) on a field trip, but that ended quickly with bad attitudes. I decided to go and get out with just the boys. Needless to say I am used to having the girls help, but decided to teach them a lesson by leaving them home to clean and get school work done. So we get to the amazing park with a breathtaking view of the lake and begin our fun. That is when Nate the 2 yr. old decides to run full force toward the lake and the ducks. Well I had Zach the 1 yr. old in the stroller so I am pushing him and yelling at Nate to come back. He didn't! So I catch him and we leave the park. Then I decide I don't want my outing to be a waste so I go to the next park a couple of miles away (with no lake or ducks) to get some fun in the sun. It went well for a while until Nate decides to run off again!!! So I am pushing my stroller with the baby in it through the mud till I catch him and put him back in the stroller. He is officially in TIMEOUT!!!! I put Zach in the swing and call my girlfriend who lives around the corner to meet me there. She did.
We had a picnic, went on a walk through the greenbelt trails, and had a wonderful time. Nate behaved the rest of the day and it was a good time for all. The girls were sorry about the attitudes and all ended well.
Each day of homeschooling and raising little ones is an adventure! No two days are the same. I learn so much about life and love and most of all God every single day through my family and experiences. I am amazed at this gift called life and I plan on living it to the fullest every day that I have here on earth. Watching kids grow and learn is wonderful and beleive me I can find adventure in everything.
I hope you enjoy reading my boring life filled with adventure.
Love
Mary Anne
